Jennifer Dean
'Jennifer Dean meticulously approaches random moments, finding splendour in the otherwise mundane.'
Queensland-based photographer, Jennifer Dean, has been working as a photographer for more than 20 years. Starting out as a photojournalist and later specialising in architecture, Jennifer’s eye for the decisive moment has evolved through documenting hundreds of weddings, high profile fashion catwalks, media events, and commercial advertising projects in Australia and overseas.
Jennifer’s ability to capture unposed moments often mistaken for cleverly staged, together with her meticulous knowledge of light and composition, has informed her highly polished and commercial style.
Jennifer’s personal work however, is a distinct deviation from her paid projects.
Subscribing to Picasso’s ethos; ‘Learn the rules like a pro, so you can break them like an artist,’ Jennifer meticulously approaches random moments, finding splendour in the otherwise mundane.
Like countless documentary photographers who have come before her, Jennifer works primarily in an opportunistic style, capturing real moments, and stopping time, 'on the fly'.
With a passion for architecture, Jennifer explores the human relationship with the lived environment.
